Migrate Odoo to a newer version
Every Odoo version changes the structure of the database. A successful migration means the same company the next day, on a newer version, with its data and its developments.
What it covers
Migrating the data, one version at a time or in several steps
Porting your custom modules
Dropping what the new version now does by itself
Odoo Community as well as Enterprise
How I go about it
-
Take stock
Installed modules, custom developments, data volume, and what changes between the versions.
-
Rehearse on a copy
The migration runs on a copy of your database, as many times as needed, until it goes through without errors.
-
Check with you
Your key processes, replayed on the migrated copy, before anything changes for good.
-
Switch over
On an agreed date, after a backup, with a way back.
What you receive
- A migrated database, checked before the switchover
- Your custom modules ported and tested
- The migration report: what changed, what was replaced
Frequently asked questions
How long does an Odoo migration take?
It depends mostly on the number of custom modules and on the volume of data. The inventory at the start of the project gives an estimate before any commitment.
Can several versions be skipped?
Yes, by chaining the intermediate steps on the copy of your database: the rehearsal validates the whole path before the switchover.
Does my business stop during the migration?
Only for the switchover, on a date you choose. Everything else happens on a copy, without touching your live database.
A migration to plan?
Describe it in a few lines: I will get back to you as soon as possible.
