Independent Odoo developer

Stéphane Mangin

Odoo developer since 2010, independent since November 2025, in Normandy, France. My ground: business processes, migrations, and logistics, from the warehouse to the last mile.

Career

I started out repairing computers. From 2006 to 2010, in Rennes, AtriumPC fixed the machines of individuals and small businesses, and built their first websites. That is where I learned to program, on my own, in the evenings. The name Atrium comes from there.

In 2010, ABF Osiell put me on TinyERP 4, Odoo’s ancestor, two names earlier (OpenERP, then at last Odoo). Four years of turning business processes into modules, plugging in third-party APIs, and learning that an ERP is judged by what it does at the customer’s once in service, not by its demo.

Then I stepped back and returned to university, to round out my theoretical grounding in fundamental computer science. Two research internships at Inria, on model-driven engineering and domain-specific languages, then three years at Orinoko building a Magento shop, a PIM and the Debian servers that carried them. I kept a taste for things cut into clean pieces, and the certainty that a piece of software is never alone.

Back to Odoo in 2020, at Camptocamp, in Switzerland, for close to five years: business processes of every size, migrations whose method I worked on, code and database alike, email routing handed to a small language model, modules proposed and reviewed at the OCA, and newcomers to mentor. In 2025, Foodles brought me into the team in charge of the supply chain of delivered corporate catering, from procurement to the last mile.

Since November 2025, I have been working on my own, from Normandy, remotely: the same craft, for companies and Odoo partners who need a developer who has already seen what an ERP becomes once in service. And if I have a preference, it is the supply chain: flows, stock, carriers, delivery, where an ERP shows every day.

OCA contributions

The Odoo Community Association publishes the free modules I reuse before writing my own. I have contributed since 2021, under my own name, on GitHub.

  • 57

pull requests, in 26 repositories, from Odoo 12 to 19

  • 16

    modules created

  • 13

    version migrations

  • 16

    contributions merged, 10 under review

Mostly in logistics: carrier labels (PostLogistics, Quickpac), delivery scheduling by zone, order preparation, returns (RMA), barcodes. And asynchronous exports (queue), server tools, HR views.
